Compassion... Nowadays, we seldom see people who take time rendering their sympathy to others. Allotting one’s care and kindness seems to be a difficult task. You may consider yourself fortunate if someone will provide you mercy because the pure intent of giving out compassion can only be seen to a few. Indeed from a few, there comes Brother Eli Soriano and Brother Daniel Razon…
One time, while watching the film The Pursuit of Happyness, Brother Daniel Razon who is the vice presiding minister of Members of the Church of God International and host of Good Morning Kuya, was able to see a scene that caught up his attention. In the scene wherein a certain character named Chris Gardner (played by Will Smith) and his son were forced to move into a transient house offering first-come first-served one-night free accommodation to the homeless in San Francisco, California. This prompted Brother Daniel to come up with an idea to adapt the concept of building a free temporary dwelling place for the less-fortunate in our country. However, he held in reserve the scheme to himself first, thinking of a very good timing, before proposing the concept to Brother Eli who is the Presiding minister of MCGI and Ang Dating Daan (The Old Path) host.
Little did Kuya (Brother Daniel) know, Brother Eli from the other side of the world where he is currently propagating the Word of Truth, was watching the same movie and was astounded by the same scenario. Innately compassionate, big-hearted and concerned for the welfare of the less-fortunate, he immediately called Kuya Daniel Razon and discussed his plan of adapting the concept of the free transient house in the Philippines. The idea of setting the right time to relay the plotted proposal to Brother Eli happened earlier than what Kuya was planning. The signal he was hoping for came into reality and he promptly heeded Brother Eli’s order. A vacant edifice near the new UNTV Building was transformed into the Philippines’ first free transient house, the Kamanggagawa Foundation Transient Home.
Still with modesty intact, this project is only one of the public services that have been produced with an immediate action. Prior to this, they also have initiated UNTV’s free daily medical and legal services, libreng sakay (free bus ride) and free MRT tickets to senior citizens. Moreover, the first feeding program and simple wishes (munting pangarap) being granted under the Brother Eli and Brother Daniel Foundation. Truly, they set good examples to teach and influence others, especially those who are affiliated in the Church, on how to give compassion out of God’s loving kindness because service to humanity has always been one of their primary missions. Hence, as they lead the Church, despite a perennial barrage of criticisms from detractors, their fervent, steadfast drive to serve mankind by all godly means has never been doused.
Certainly, compassion from the one who has a big heart, all these good deeds can possibly be done. How grateful are we to the ONE SO GREAT WHO shaped this big heart.
